Light bulbs

Light bulbs are one of the most widely used commodities around. Obviously they are used in

every residential home in every room in the house, from kitchens to garages to outdoor terrace lighting. Business of all types (restaurants, hotels, schools, labs) can really help promote their image and improve quality with the right kind of lighting. Many people are benefiting from the energy savings that compact fluorescents allow by reducing your energy bill, still seeing the same light quality, and having a light bulb that lasts 10 times longer than regular incandescents!

There are few types of light bulbs ,they are incandescent, fluorescent and HID(High Intensity discharge).

Incandescent light bulbs

Incandescent light bulbs have been available in some fashion or another for over a hundred years. They are very common and versatile lighting products. While they are not the most energy efficient sources of light, they are the least expensive bulbs to buy and they come in such a wide variety of shapes and sizes that they are sure to fit any application at all-no matter how unique.

Fluorescent light bulbs

Fluorescent lighting is by far the most popular office lighting used today. A device called a ballast transforms and controls the flow of energy through the bulb itself. This energy causes the electrodes on each end of the tube to heat up and create an electrical arc all the way through the fluorescent bulb. This arc causes the phosphors on the sides of the bulb to glow, or fluoresce, causing visible light. Without the ballast, all fluorescent bulbs would not work.

HID(High Intensity Discharge)

As shown in the picture above.
High Intensity Discharge light bulbs (HID bulbs) are an excellent option for energy efficient lighting. They are in use almost everywhere, from the local grocery store, to the warehouses and factories, to the parking lots and highway lights. HID light bulbs are simply the most efficient method of lighting large areas, where color rendering and quality are not extremely important factors. Some HID lighting is a subdued orange color, like so many street lights tend to be. This does not mean that HID's must be that way, as many of them are actually in the cool white part of the light spectrum. All of this type of light bulb have extremely long life cycles, many as high as 20,000 hours or more. This helps justify the higher initial cost of HID lighting systems.
